TUDOR HOUSE & GARDEN

SEACITY MUSEUM

Telling Southampton’s maritime history, the SeaCity Museum traces the story of the people of the city with the sea.

SOLENT SKY MUSEUM

Showcasing the importance of the Solent and Southampton area in the history of aviation with over 20 airframes on display including the Spitfire which was born in Southampton.

NATIONAL MOTOR MUSEUM

With over 280 vehicles from Formula 1 to land speed record holders as well as dozens of examples of cars throughout the history of motoring, the national motoring museum at Beaulieu is heaven for petrol heads. But it has plenty more to offer, with the historic  Palace House, originally the gatehouse to Beaulieu Abbey offering a tour of a Victorian country house.

MEDIEVAL MERCHANT’S HOUSE

Restored to its mid-14th-century splendour by the removal of later additions, the Medieval Merchant’s House lets visitors take a glimpse into the way a merchant would have lived in the bustling port town of Southampton.

HYTHE FERRY

A trip on the Hythe ferry offers a chance to see Southampton from the water but also has the interesting experience of being able to catch a train from the end of the pier at the Hythe end to the shore.

  • The bustle of one the UK’s busiest ports.
  • Riding the train along the pier.

TITANIC TRAIL

The 75-minute walk around Southampton will take you past many of the memorials built after the Titanic tragedy as well as other points of interest within Southampton.

DON’T MISS:

  • The many memorials to different workes on the Titanic.
  • The Grapes Public House.
  • Canute Chambers, the headquarters of White Star Line.

PLAN YOUR VISIT:

  • There are no entrance fees for the Titanic Trail.
  • Most of the points of interest on the walk are open all day, every day. However, a couple are inside buildings and may only be open at certain times.

STEAMSHIP SHIELDHALL

Steamship Shieldhall is the largest working steamship in the UK and part of the National historic fleet. Today you can experience the golden age of steam by visiting her or perhaps even taking a trip onboard?

  • The engine room.
  • The bridge.
  • Relaxing and enjoying your sail.

NETLEY ABBEY

Netley Abbey is the most complete surviving abbey in Southern England that was built by Cistercian monks. Today, the majority of the 13th-century churches walls remain standing together with many other buildings.

SOUTHAMPTON TOWN WALLS

Southampton’s town walls are some of the best-preserved in the UK and parts of them can still be seen at many points in the city. A walk around the perimeter will provide a fascinating insight into the history of the city.

DON’T MISS:

  • Bargate.
  • Arundel Tower.
  • The Arcades.
  • York Gate.

PLAN YOUR VISIT:

  • There are no entrance fees for the Town Walls.
  • The points of interest on the walk are open all day, every day.
  • Guided walks are available at 11:00 on Saturday and Sunday for £3 for over 16s, children are free. Walks start at Bargate.
